The Audit Process: Supply Side Analysis

To understand how an air system operates we must document all aspects of the system including:

Energy consumption in KWH

Peak electrical demand in KW

Compressed air demand in SCFM

Operating pressure in PSI

Maintenance costs in Dollars

Water consumption in GPM

Dryer purge loss in SCFM

This information is used to calculate the air systems cost of operation in cost per 1000 scfm delivered.

A truly high efficiency air system can deliver compressed air at 15 to 20 cents per 1000 scfm.

Typically air systems deliver compressed air at 25 to 30 cents per 1000 scfm.

To accurately profile an air system you must simultaneously record all aspects of the air system including Energy Flow, Air-Pressure, & Water Consumption
